While working on this issue summer arrived a few weeks late and we hit 120 degrees two days in a row. David Chorlton’s Midsummer Journal arrived & we came back down to our normal 112 degrees. Thank you, David!
You’ll also enjoy all the varied treats from returning writers Bonnie, Al, Arvilla, Mark, and Francene. Bobby & Zary share new short stories, and Roger shares one of his own pieces alongside his old friends François, Miguel, Herman & Señora Trifaldi. I truly enjoyed the fact that his old friends spoke of poets in exactly the same way we do today. It’s gratifying to know that nothing really changes in 500 years. And since Señora Trifaldi borrowed a line from Plato, I could safely say 2500 years.
Three writers appear for the first time in Cholla Needles, and they are very welcome! Jason takes us on a summer journey to Greece, Poland and Ireland. Claudia’s creativity includes the still-life of spoons and bowls, along with mental exercises of studying, and the swift nature movements of finches. She also helps us consider world events in a creative manner by reminding us of the symbol of sunflowers. Hiba blesses us with poetry directly from a current war zone and gives us an inner eye witness account by engaging our souls with poetry of the moment. We pray for her safety daily.
