My psychologist asks
where my poems come from,
I tell him that
I’ve typed out my favorite ones,
from Hopkins to Lorca and Plath,
over and over and over again,
memorizing and reciting them,
waiting for the Muse to come,
but all to no avail;
then I tell him, hell,
they come from the moon at night,
some fall from the stars,
others alight from Mars,
materialize from the light
or darkness of my soul
